This paper assessed the extent of utilization of mobile platforms for learning effectiveness among undergraduate students of Library and Information Sciences in Rivers State Universities. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. Four Research questions and four hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study comprises of 460 students (2024/2025 session) across year one to year four from the Department of Library and Information Sciences of Rivers State University, Nkpolu- Oroworukwo; and 3000 students (2024-2025 session) from the Department of Library and Information Sciences, of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Rumuolumeni. Quota sampling technique was used to sample 552 students and Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table of sample size was used to sample 210 (101 male and 109 Female) and 342 (189 male and 153 female) students from Rivers State University, Nkpolu – Oroworukwo and Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni respectively. Selfdeveloped Questionnaire titled Mobile Platform Inventory (MPI) was used to collect data, the questionnaire was given face validation and reliability index of 0.75 was obtained using Cronbach Alpha Statistic. Research questions were answered using descriptive statistics while the hypotheses were tested using t-test. The findings of the study revealed that students utilized mobile platforms for effective learning to a high extent and that there were challenges that mitigated its usage. Therefore, the researchers recommend that lecturers should engage students through mobile platforms for effective learning.
